Sandwichito, Limoncín y Fair Cotton de Katia Yarns

¿Qué te viene a la mente cuando piensas en un picnic? 

Cuando Katia me propuso colaborar en la nueva revista especial Fair Cotton Crochet, inspirada en un  picnic, me vinieron a la cabeza imágenes de tortillas de patata, botellas de vino, cestas con baguettes... Pero finalmente, con lo que más me identificaba es con un sandwich al que le meto todo lo que hay en la nevera, envuelto en papel de aluminio, y un buen refresco. Picnic perfecto, poco más hace falta ya. Y esta es mi versión amigurumística.

SANDWICHITO Y LIMONCÍN

Sandwichito y Limoncín son dos amigurumis a los que les gusta disfrutar de las buenas cosas de la vida. Pero de esas que siempre están ahí y a veces cuesta ver, las cosas sencillas. Les gusta pasar la tarde tirados en la hierba mirando las nubes pasar y pasear a la orilla del río. Sandwichito está relleno de sabrosos ingredientes frescos y sanos y cubierto de un delicioso pan de semillas mientras que Limoncín está hecho con limones y pomelos recién exprimidos. Viven en una cesta de mimbre, de la cual también encontrarás el patrón en la revista, ideal para transportarlos

En este especial encontraréis 17 patrones, de diferentes diseñadores. Llena de elegancia y buen gusto,  y para muestra esta portada, con el diseño maravilloso de Ameskeria.

Todos ellos de ganchillo y perfectos para primavera/verano, para pequeños y grandes, para el día y la noche. Yo ya tengo mi lista hecha, y creo que voy a tener que hacer uno de estos petos para bebé de Creativa Atelier porque son demasiado bonitos.

Otras diseñadoras que han participado en la revista son Unikathiknits, Evgeniya Duplyi, Samanta Fornino, Atty Van Norel, Catherine Palmiotto, Tournicote y LindseySophie.

Además de con Sandwichito y Limoncín participo con estas banderolas, otro de los elementos que no puede faltar en un picnic. Para su diseño me inspiré en estampados y colores del estilo  Memphis, un estilo moderno y estridente de por sí aunque en este caso un poco suavizado para adaptarlo a la delicadeza y los aires bucólicos de la revista. Como veis, todos los estilos pueden ser compatibles en un momento dado, y  a mi me divierte especialmente experimentar mezclándolos.

Chips and Henry

Life is sometimes sweet and sometimes salty, and not always in the order we would like it to be. Sometimes we don't even know what we want. That's why Chips and Henry come both in the same package, because sweet and salty go well together

It's a very nice and easy crochet pattern in which you'll practice the amigurumi basics such as to work in the round, and proportional increasing. And they're extremely cute...

Ni dulce ni salado, ni todo lo contrario. Hay veces que tenemos muy claro lo que nos apetece, pero otras en las que nos es imposible decidir. Y es que así es la vida, unas veces dulce y otras salada, y no siempre nos toca la que nos apetece.

Para esos casos os traigo a esta pareja, Chips y  Henry, que nos recuerdan precisamente eso, y además nos demuestran que los opuestos se necesitan y que pueden perfectamente ir de la mano.

Es este un patrón muy sencillo con el que practicar, e incluso aprender, los básicos del ganchillo como trabajar en redondo y el aumento proporcional. Y encima son tan monos....

HOW TO READ THE PATTERN
I'll begin by telling you which piece to crochet and the color you have to use.
Then I'll continue with the number of the row + the stitches to work in that round + the total amount of stitches in that round in parentheses ( ).
Repeat the instructions in the [ ] brackets as many times as the X number tells you.

CÓMO LEER EL PATRÓN

Primero se informa de la pieza y el color.

Después viene el número de la vuelta + los puntos para trabajar en esa vuelta + el número total de puntos de la vuelta entre paréntesis ( ).

Repetir las instrucciones entre corchetes [ ] tantas veces como te indique la X.

Leer atentamente todo el patrón antes de empezar a tejer.

Body (make 2)

Place the eyes on one of the halves. (Tream the eyes by cuttung or burning them if the back part is too long)
Join both halves using the tapestry needle and stuff a little.

Cuteness Undercover, FACE ON A PLATE

For two weeks you've had all the pieces already crocheted and your mind is about to explode trying to solve the mistery. Wondering what the **** have you been doing all this months? Well, you've been crocheting nothing but a super cute Face on a Plate. How cool is that? And almost without noticing it you've learnt how to crochet eyes, noses, ears, legs and arms. Be honest, had you figured it out already?

CREATING FACE ON A PLATE

First, place the eyes on the plate, try different places till you find the one that suits the best. Make sure that all the threads are fastened off and put a bit of stuffing inside the eye. Put a little bit of glue or silicone on the edge, towards the interior, (just a bit!) and stick it to the plate. Be extremely careful not to put too much glue because it could overflow and it would look untidy. (Find here how to crochet the eyes)

Lleváis dos semanas jugando con todas las piezas, estrujándoos el cerebro para averiguar qué diablos estáis tejiendo en estos dos últimos meses. Pues estáis tejiendo nada más y nada menos que a Caraplato.  Y, casi sin darte ni cuenta has aprendido a tejer ojos, orejas, nariz y piernas. Dime la verdad, ¿ya te lo habías imaginado?

CREANDO A CARAPLATO

Primero coloca los ojos en el plato, prueba diferentes lugares hasta que encuentres el que más te gusta. Asegúrate de que todos los hilos están rematados y pon un poquitín de relleno dentro. Pon un poco de pegamento o silicona  (¡ sólo un poco!) en los bordes, más bien cerca del interior y pégalo al plato. Hazlo con mucho cuidado para que no rebose por los bordes, que quedaría feo. Stuff the nose and repeat the same procedure as in the eyes. (Find here how to crochet the nose)

Rellena la nariz y repite el mismo procedimiento que con los ojos. (Encuentra aquí cómo tejer la nariz)

Same thing with the ears, but this time from behind the plate, instead of on it. Don't stuff them but flatten them. Same as you've done with the eyes, try different positions. (Find here how to crochet the ears)

Haz lo mismo con las orejas, pero por la parte de atrás del plato, sin rellenar y aplastándolas. Al igual que has hecho con los ojos, colócalas antes en diferentes posiciones hasta que encuentres la que más te gusta. (Encuentra aquí cómo tejer las orejas)

It's turn now for the damn tubes. Do you want them to be legs? Let's make them legs. Would you prefer them to be arms? Let them be arms then! Hi Face in a Plate! (Find here how to crochet the legs)

Vamos ahora con los dichosos tubitos a rayas que tantos dolores de cabeza os han dado. (Os quejáis de vicio). ¿Quieres que sean piernas? Pues piernas. ¿Que prefieres que sean brazos? Brazos, entonces. ¡Hola Caraplato! (Encuentra aquí cómo tejer las piernas)

Face on a Plate is a cute little fella born to be hung on a wall and make your day happier, because he's super nice. Hung him on a place that needs to be brightened up, like near the door, so it will be the last thing you see when you leave home, or by the bedside table so it will be the first thing you see when your alarm rings in the morning.

Caraplato es una cara en un plato para colgar en la pared y alegraros cada vez que lo miréis, porque es supersimpático. Ponedlo en un sitio que necesite un poco de alegría, como al lado de la puerta de casa para verlo cada vez que vayáis a salir, o en la pared sobre la mesita de noche para que sea lo primero que ves cuando suena tu despertador.

HOMEWORK:
1. Try all the thigs you've learnt to create different creatures on different surfaces.
2. Make a face on a Plate using an old plate with a flower pattern or such.
3. Crochet both arms and legs and introduce pipecleaners so you can move them and form different poses.
4. Try to make a Face on a Plate as a little bear or kitty.

This have been our first Cuteness Undercover, I really hope you've enjoyed it and you make the best of it. It's easy and beautiful, and there's nothing better than that. Cuteness Undercover "F.O.A.P", clue 4

Is it me or things are getting more and more interesting? Finally our clue #4 is here and because of that you all are going to hate me bad, I know that for sure. But everything comes with a price and designing cuties is a very risky business...

¿Me lo parece a mi, o esto se está poniendo interesante por momentos? Llegamos al fin a nuestra pista número 4.... pista gracias a la cual me vais a odiar, pero es un riesgo que hay que correr. Las monerías tienen su precio.

Yes, my poor innocents friends, it is a long and thin tube. I know that 99% of you are not fan of crocheting long and thin tubes, even worse if it involves constant colour changing. What I also know is that once it's finished you are gonna love it. So, please allow me a piece of advice here, from someone who has crocheted so many tubes that almost loves it (well, maybe not really love them, just accept them...):

1. They're actually very easy and quick to crochet, it won't take you more than 10 minutes each.

2. Keep track of the stitches while you crochet, count them, use the numbers as a way of meditation and try to enjoy that.

3. Once you finish them you'll feel that's totally worth it. Always. And that's what this is about.

Sí, mis pobres e inocentes amigas, se trata de un tubito fino y alargado. Se que el 99% de vosotras no sois muy fans de tejer tubitos alargados y finos, menos aún si incluyen frecuentes cambios de color. Lo que también se es que luego os encanta el resultado final. Así que, permitidme un consejo de alguien que ha tejido tantos tubitos largos y finos que ya hasta le ha pillado el gusto (bueno, el gusto tampoco, digamos que he aprendido a tolerarlos...):

1. Pensad que en realidad se teje superrápido, no vais a tardar más de 10 minutos en cada uno. 

2. Contad mientras lo tejéis, y concentraos en los números. Intentad disfrutar del estado de quasi-meditación que alcanzas al contar.

3. El resultado final merece siempre la pena, eso es lo más importante.

Even if you hate it bad, this kind of pieces are basic in the amigurumi technic. So, get it together and crochet as follows (twice, sorry about that):
1. Using blue cotton yarn, 5 sc in a magic ring
2. 5 inc (10 sc)
3. Using white cotton yarn, 10 sc
4. From now on you'll crochet 10 sc rounds, one in blue, one in white, till round 20.
20. 10 sc. Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Aunque la odiéis a muerte, es una pieza fundamental para tejer amigurumis. Así que armaos de valor y tejed lo siguiente (dos veces, lo siento):
1. Empezando con azul, 5 pb en anillo mágico.
2. 5 aum (10 pb)
3. Con blanco, 10 pb
4. A partir de ahora alternarás azul y blanco en cada fila. 10 pb hasta llegar a la fila 20.

Hi there, my dear anxious friends. I know I'm very cruel and I keep you waiting for ever but, come on, let's confess, you are working on minimum 5 more projects at the same time. So I'm sure that deep inside you're grateful things are a little chill around here. Am I right?

Hola, mis queridas amigas ansiosas. Se que os trato muy mal y os hago sufrir, pero bah, confesad, estáis tejiendo por lo menos 5 proyectos a la vez, así que en el fondo agradecéis que os haga esperar un poquito. ¿O no?

Our third piece is another cutie. A very helpful classic that will be perfect for many of your amigurumi projects. Again, we have to crochet it twice. Let´s go:

1. Using the navy blue cotton yarn, 5 single crochet (sc) in a magic ring
2. 5 increases (inc) (10 sc)
3. Using white cotton yarn, [1 sc, 1 inc] x5 (15 sc)
4. [2 sc, 1 inc] x5 (20 sc)
5. 20 sc
Cut the yarn and fasten off. Repeat, you'll need two pieces.

Esta es la primera pieza de nuestra Monería Clandestina y consiste en:

Si has asentido con la cabeza o aplaudido entusiasta a la pantalla o te has puesto firme y has gritado "Señor, sí señor", has hecho bien. Porque lo que va a pasar a continuación va a ser bueno y divertido.

Queridas amiguitas, empieza la primera edición de...

Wait, what? Ok, ok. Cuteness Undercover it's a series of super cute little tutorials that I'll be revealing little by little. Why don't posting all of it at once, instead of messing with you? Well, first of all because I just love messing with you. Besides, this way I'll have more posts to share and you won't get tired since you'll have time enough to make your homework.

But, don't worry if you're one of this lazy or untrusting people. In that case you can just wait till all the tutorials has been published and make the whole thing in one afertoon. But, between you and me, where is the fun in that?

My design for this first "Cuteness Undercover" joins corchet and crockery (whaaat?!) You're going to love this project and you can make it fast and easily.

¿Cómo? ¿Mande? Voy, voy. Las Monerías Clandestinas son pequeños tutoriales que iré desvelando poco a poco. ¿Porqué no lo publico todo de golpe y me dejo de pamplinas? Pues porque me gusta haceros sufrir, básicamente. Además, así dura más, me da para más posts y no os casáis mucho ya que tendréis harto tiempo para hacer los deberes de una entrega a otra. 

Si te da pereza mortal o eres de esas desconfiadas que hasta que no lo veas no lo creas, debes saber que va a ser tan mono que no vas a poder resistirte. En cuánto lo veas entero vas a querer hacértelo. 

Mi propuesta para este primer "Monerías Clandestinas" aúna ganchillo y menaje del hogar. (Qué?!)  Se trata de una pieza que va a enamorar a pequeños y mayores y que podéis elaborar muy rápidamente, ya que es super fácil.

TECHNICS WE'RE GOING TO USE

MATERIALS WE'RE GOING TO NEED

MATERIALES QUE VAMOS A NECESITAR

- A small plate, about 15 cm in diameter. (You can buy one or use an old one. But cute, it has to be cute!)
- A 2,5mm crochet hook.
- Cotton yarn in several colours ( white, navy blue, red, brown, blue...)
- A bit of polyfill stuffing 
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Fabric glue or silicone

- Un plato pequeño, unos 15 cm de diámetro. (Puedes comprar uno o puedes usar uno viejo que tengas por casa. ¡Pero que sea mono!)

- Ganchillo de 2,5mm

- Algodón adecuado para el ganchillo, en varios colores (blanco, azul marino, rojo, marrón, azul...)

- Un poquito de relleno

- Tijeras

- Aguja lanera

- Pegamento textil o silicona

This is a perfect project for all those who want to try the art of amigurumi as well as those who'd like to go one step beyong.

Es un proyecto perfecto para quien se quiera iniciar en el mundo del amigurumi y para todas aquellas personas a las que les guste ir un paso más allá y darle otra vuelta de tuerca a las cosas.

Uggy, the ugly sweater guy

We all have our unique and non-transferable relationship with Christmas festivities. There’re people who love them, 

there’re people who can’t stand them, those who like them for a couple of days but then get tired, those who get sad and also people who await Christmas with excitement. And then there is Uggy.

Todos tenemos nuestra relación única e intransferible con las fiestas navideñas. Hay quien las ama, hay quien no las soporta, a algunos les gustan un par de días pero luego les cansan, hay a quien le ponen triste y hay quien las espera con ilusión. Y luego está Uggy.

Uggy thinks about Christmas from January to December. Every year he designs and makes his own Christmas sweater, which he starts wearing proudly in mid-October. He owns the most stunning Christmas tree in the whole city and he is always up to date when it comes to Christmas ornaments. He is himself the creator of some of the latest trends in the recent years.

Uggy piensa en las navidades desde enero hasta diciembre. Cada año diseña y confecciona él mismo un jersey navideño que empieza a lucir con orgullo a mediados de octubre. Tiene el árbol más bonito de la ciudad y siempre está a la última en cuanto a adornos. Él mismo es el creador de alguna de las tendencias de los últimos años.

He knows the popular traditions, even from different countries, and tries to follow them all faithfully. Every day he takes cookies to his office, and in his car only carols are heard. He organises the Christmas dinner with his workmates, with his gym friends, with cousins and with old classmates. Every evening he attends to a different Christmas dinner, especially longing moment to wear his well-known reindeer antlers headbands and his Santa Claus hats full of sparkling stars.

Conoce todas las tradiciones, incluso de diferentes países, e intenta seguirlas todas fielmente. Todos los días lleva galletas a la oficina, y en su coche sólo se escuchan villancicos. Organiza cenas con compañeros de la empresa, con amigas del gimnasio, con los primos., con antiguos alumnos.. Cada día tiene una cena de Navidad, momento especialmente deseado para poder lucir sus famosas diademas de reno y sus gorros de Papá Noel con estrellas luminosas.

You know who I’m talking about, don’t you? Uggy is also part of your life. Uggy is that enthusiastic and cheerful person who instead of wasting their time looking for excuses to complain would rather make a party and dress up.
Intense and insistent, sometimes too much, but thanks to them you’ve enjoyed many funny moments which nobody else was willing to organise.

Hooray for Uggy, his willingness and attitude! Thanks Uggy for making life funnier to people around you!

¿Sabes de quién te hablo, verdad? Seguro que tú también tienes un Uggy en tu vida. Uggy es esa persona alegre y entusiasta que en vez de pasar el tiempo buscando excusas para quejarse, prefiere organizar una fiesta y disfrazarse.
Es intenso e insistente, a veces demasiado, pero gracias a él has disfrutado de muchos momentos divertidos que nadie más estaba dispuesto a organizar.

¡Viva Uggy, su disposición y sus ganas! ¡Gracias Uggy por hacernos la vida más divertida a quienes te rodeamos!

Rex Pistols and the Meteorites

I'm sure you've already known about Rex, the lead singer of the worldwide known punk rock band "Rex Pistols and the meteorites". The naughtiest band in all the Jurasic. The most badass guys in all Mesozoic, who despite being more than 200 millions of years old, still the kings of the stage.

Supongo que todas conocéis a Rex, el líder de la mundialmente famosa banda de punk rock Rex Pistols and the Meteorites. La banda más irreverente de todo el Jurásico. Los chicos más malos del Mesozoico, que a sus más de 200 millones de años siguen dando caña. 

You've probably heard some of their biggest hits, like "It's the end of the world as we know it", "Atapuerca Calling", "I'll make an impression" or "There's no future for dinosaurs".

Oldies but goldies, this hits still beating all over the disco-caverns of Pangea and even the fossils recite their choruses. No paleonthologist can resist their savage and troglodyte rythms.

Seguro que has oído algunos de sus grandes éxitos, como: "It's the end of the world as we know it", "Atapuerca Calling", "Yo soy de los que deja huella", "There's no future for dinosaurs",  o "Oh baby, te velociraptaré".

Grandes éxitos de ayer, de hoy y de siempre que aún se escuchan en las mejores disco-cavernas y after-yacimientos de toda Pangea y hasta los fósiles corean sus pegadizos estribillos. No hay paleontólogo que se resista a sus ritmos salvajes y trogloditas.

Rex is a tough guy, he has no respect for authorities, but he has a little weakness though... he's supersticious and he would always bring a meteorite with him during all his shows. He says it's good luck, but honestly... I doubt it.

Rex es un tipo duro, sin respeto a la autoridad, pero tiene una pequeña debilidad que os voy a confesar. Es supersticioso y siempre lleva un meteorito con él en todas las actuaciones. Dice que es para la buena suerte, aunque... no estoy yo muy segura de eso...

Rex Pistols is my participation to the annual amigurumi contest that AmigurumiPatterns hosts. I've been meaning to participate a lot of times in the past, but I was never on time. This year I made it, finally. Yay!

It's been one of the most fun designs I've worked in. Thinking in all the details and all the prehistoric facts (and fake facts) to play with, imaginning Rex and his meteorites adventures through the Jurasic...

Rex Pistols es mi participación en el concurso anual de amigurumi de la web Amigurumipatterns. Llevaba años intentando participar pero siempre llebaga tarde. Este año al fin he podido entregarlo a tiempo, el último día por los pelos. A pesar de que llevaba ya mucho tiempo trabajando en este diseño.

Ha sido uno de los más divertidos de diseñar y tejer hasta ahora. Pensar en todos los detalles, imaginarme todas las historietas de Rex y sus meteoritos por el Jurásico...
