Trizas y Trazos y presentación de Bellota, Madrid

Hoy os traigo un 2x1! Tienda y revista! Y eso que es verano y mi productividad está alcanzando cotas extraordinariamente bajas. El Día Mundial de Tejer en Público fue bastante ajetreado, por la mañana a tejer al Retiro, locura total, picnic... pero ahí no terminó la cosa. Por la tarde cogí mis bártulos y mis YarnWomans y me fui a la presentación de Bellota en Trizas y Trazos! 

BELLOTA 

Bellota es la nueva revista de punto en español, totalmente independiente y fruto de la colaboración entre Cecilia García y Soraya García. Consta de más de 100 páginas con 9 patrones: jerseys, complementos, calcetines... de varios niveles, entre ellos el famoso jersey #chinquilhosweater que ha inundado nuestros instagrams en los últimos meses. También incluye entrevistas, como la de Lucía Ruíz de Aguirre, quién aporta un patrón de un chal. Complementando a los patrones y las entrevistas, hay reportajes e ilustraciones. Me ha encantado que no sólo tenga patrones si no que incluya todos estos alicientes extra.

Vamos, lo que se dice completita completita. Ahora os cotilleo mis modelos favoritos: el bolso tangram y la chaqueta origami. Creo que este otoño no voy a poder resistirme a tejerme alguno de ellos.

Tanto en Bellota como en Trizas y trazos se pone evidencia un gran amor por la lana. No había estado nunca en la tienda y os puedo asegurar que quedé gratamente sorprendida.

TRIZAS Y TRAZOS

Hay una variedad de lanas que aún no había conocido en Madrid. Para las que no os conforméis con lo de siempre o lo más comercial, os recomiendo una visita urgente. Encontraréis todo tipo de calidades e hilaturas diferentes, fantasías, materiales, etc. Y además, las marcas más trendy en el panorama lanar actual como las de Rosa Pomar, Hedgehog Fibres, Malabrigo...

En la parte mercería tampoco se quedan cortas y tienen un amplio despliegue de artilugios y accesorios de todo tipo, de esos que ni se para que sirven, que son los que me gustan y los que me acabo comprando siempre.

Esa tarde fue, sin duda, un encuentro muy especial, ya que además de conocer la revista y la tienda, tuve la oportunidad de conocer en persona a Lucía, a Soraya, a Lorena de The Incredible Lana Box... que tanto tiempo llevaba siguiendo en las redes. Además fui con Emilie Lehandmade, mi compañera de estar en la puerta en eventos sociales tejeriles, y eso siempre le da  mucha calidad a cualquier sarao.

Había tantísima gente que no pude verlo y tocarlo todo como a mi me gusta, pero sí que tuve oportunidad de echarle el ojo a un par de cosas que tarde o temprano tendré que ir a comprar. Está en Madrid, C/ Fuenterrabía nº3. 

Blue Bubalú, Rivas Vaciamadrid

Finally! Congratulations to me! I was so looking forward to visit this shop and finally I got to know Natalia and Patricia properly, and share some time and lots of laughter. On top of that, I went along with my good friend Knitting the Skyline, so it became sort of a crazy-fun-knitting- improvised festival.

We had a lot of stuff to organize, since we are hosting the WWKIPD event in El Retiro (Madrid) next June the 9th. So we had quite a wonderful day, among yarn skeins and a great bunch of silly jokes which the four of us happen to enjoy very much.

BLUE BUBALÚ

Por fin! Albricias, enhorabuena y felicidades! Al fin conseguí ir a Blue Bubalú! Cuántas ganas tenía de conocer a Natalia y Patricia en persona y como debe ser, con unas coca colas y unas pizzas mediante. Además tuve la suerte de compartir visita con Knitting the Skyline, así que como imaginaréis, con semejantes elementas, aquello se convirtió en un festival de risas.

Teníamos muchas cosas que organizar, ya que tenemos el evento del Día Mundial de Tejer en Público el sábado 9 de junio en El Retiro. Y entre ovillos y chistes echamos la mañana. El buen ambiente que transmite esta tienda se siente ya antes de entrar y cuando entras lo confirmas recibiendo una inyección de luz y color.

What can we find in Blue Bubalú? A good variety of Katia Yarns, beautiful cotton cones from Hilaturas LM, the marvelous Cotton Air from Casa Sol... and all kinf of patchwork supplies. There's so much fondness to patchwork there that they even have daily workshops! And I've never tried patchwrok, can you believe it? Have you ever?

I took Conchita with me not only because I know how much she loves yarn shops but also because she had a very special meeting herself. She was going to finally meet Tostadito, the cutest toast ever.

En Blue Bubalú podéis encontrar una amplia variedad de Lanas Katia, algodones de Hilaturas LM, Coton Air de Casa Sol... Y sobre todo, todo lo que necesitas para Patchwork. Hay tanta afición al Patchwprk que hasta tienen talleres todos los días de la semana! Y yo que nunca lo he probado... Será una señal?

Me llevé a Conchita a visitar la tienda, porque se que le encantan las tiendas de lanas, pero sobre todo porque ella también tenía un encuentro muy especial. Al fin conocería cara a cara a Tostadito, la tostada más bonica del universo.

Apparently, the name Blue Bubalú came as a result of a crazy night, according to Natalia. Better not ask further, I preffer the mistery. If you want to know the whole story you'd have to pay them a visit in 28 Maria Zambrano Street, Rivas Vaciamadrid.

Since I have your attention, I'd like to remember that we have a lot of wonderful prizes for all those who´d like to join us in El Retiro.

Por lo visto el nombre Blue Bubalú viene de "una noche loca", según Natalia. Y ahí lo dejo, prefiero mantener el misterio y dar juego a la imaginación, que siempre es mucho más divertido. Si queréis saber toda la historia del nombre tendréis que acercaros a que os la cuenten ellas mismas en: c/María Zambrano, Local 28, Rivas Vaciamadrid.

Merino Feroz, San Lorenzo de El Escorial

I was so looking forward to visit this place...! Just the name, which is Spanish for "Ferocious Merino", is so suggestive, isn't it? But, leaving the name appart... we're talking here about a Knitting Tavern... yes, you've read right: Knitting Tavern! What else could you ask for? Well, there's more. And a lot more. Believe me, I'm totally fascinated.

Llevaba tanto tiempo con ganas de visitar este lugar! Ya sólo el nombre es la mar de sugerente, no me digáis que no... pero es que además, lo de teje taberna... ¡¡¡Teje Taberna!! Qué más se puede pedir? Pues aún hay más. Y mucho más. A mi me tiene totalmente fascinada.

MERINO FEROZ

In Merino Feroz , you'll find a very selected menu of yarns, which is not easy to find in Spain yet, such as Hedgehog Fibres, Malabrigo, Madeline Tosh... Besides, they have knitting and crochet workshops, and as a novelty, a super fun youtube channel with tutorials, patterns and tips. And... craft beer!!

En Merino Feroz encontrarás una super selecta carta de lanas que no es fácil de encontrar hoy en día en España como Hedgehog Fibres, Malabrigo, Madeline Tosh... Cada vez se van viendo más, pero siguen siendo rarezas.

 Además imparten talleres, clases de ganchillo y punto para todos los niveles,  y como novedad hace unos meses, han creado un canal de youtube divertidísimo con muchas ideas, patrones y tutoriales. Y... tienen cerveza artesanal!

My visit to Merino Feroz  was a day to remember. It was a bank holiday in December, and we decided to go for a daytrip to San Lorenzo del Escorial by train. We visited the monastery, walked around the gardens and parks, had a snack in the city and ended the party having a beer in this knitting tavern. I strongly recommend this plan if you're visiting Madrid for more than one day.

Mi visita a Merino Feroz fue un día para el recuerdo. Aprovechamos un festivo de diciembre para coger el tren a San Lorenzo de El Escorial. Visitamos el monasterio, paseamos por los jardines y parques, merendamos en el pueblo, y como fin de fiesta una cerveza en la teje taberna. Os recomiendo este plan, yo lo hice en otoño y pienso volver en otra época del año para ver la diferencia del paisaje, que es precioso. (Disculpad que me ponga cursi, pero es que es todo tan bonito...)

Merino Feroz is located in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, 30, Floridablanca Street, in the very city centre. Have a nice walk around the historical centre and end your day with a beer at Marta's, enjoying the special environment.

Merino Feroz está en San Lorenzo de El Escorial, en la Calle Floridablanca nº30, en pleno centro de la ciudad. Paséate por el centro histórico y termina la tarde tomando una cerveza en casa de Marta, disfrutando de su buen ambiente.

Teje y Punto, Madrid

I met Lucía in the WWKIPD. She organized a knitters meeting at El Retiro, and there I went, with some friends, a picnic and a bottle of cava. By the way, I was crocheting Herb Alpin that day and people started asking me: "What is it, what is it...?" hihiiiii As I've told you before, I was feeling a bit under the weather by that time, but this gathering was very good to me. It allowed me to meet new people, new crocheters and knitters, and it reminded me how important is to share the knitting moment. I enjoy crochetting alone very much, but to do it in company is necessary and therapeutic, I reckon.

Conocí a Lucía en El Día Mundial de Tejer en Público. Ella organizó un encuentro de tejedoras en El Retiro, y ahí me planté con unas amigas, unos picnics y una botella de cava. Por cierto, recuerdo que ese día estaba tejiendo a Herb Alpin y la gente me preguntaba :"Qué es, qué es...?" jijiiiii... Como os he comentado en otras ocasiones, en esa época estaba recién instalada en Madrid y un poco perdida, pero esta reunión me ayudó a encontrarme un poco. Me sirvió para volver a estar en contacto con tejedoras, y recordarme lo importante y bueno que es compartir el momento de tejer. Me gusta mucho tejer sola, pero tejer en compañía es necesario y terapéutico. 

TEJE Y PUNTO

Months later, Lucía told me that she was opening a yarns shop with room for workshops and then I almost fainted. A new whole amusement park was going to be born. Is not like there're no yarn shops in Madrid, fortunately there are a few of them, but this one is special because I've seen its birth. Besides it's located in one of the coolest neighbourhoods in Madrid, Chueca. 

Meses después, Lucía me contó que iba a abrir una tienda de lanas con espacio para talleres y ya ahí me dio el desmayo. El nombre, ideal: Teje y Punto. No es que no haya tiendas de lanas y talleres en Madrid, afortunadamente hay alguna, pero esta la he visto nacer, y  está en uno de los barrios más guay de Madrid, en Chueca. Y, además, es de Lucía... (Quizá la conocíais ya por las redes sociales, bajo el nombre de Knitting the Skyline, conocida entre otras cosas, por las Knitting Parties de We Are Knitters.)

They have a lot of workshops in Teje y Punto, and there are much more to come. Knitting, crochet, embroidery... with all sort of designers and professionals walking around the place. (Actually, next Saturday the 7th, I'm giving a workshop there to teach how to crochet A Winter Hat.) You'll also find there a nice sellection of yarns and cottons, knitting accesories, kits, books and magazines, and the star of the moment: the XXL merino. Everything condensed in a small and warm space overflowinf with thrill and joy.

En Teje y Punto se van a impartir todo tipo de talleres. Tanto continuos de ganchillo, punto, bordado... como monográficos con todo tipo de diseñadores y profesores circulando por ahí. (Sin ir más lejos, el próximo 7 de enero voy a impartir un taller para tejer A Winter Hat.) También podéis encontrar en su tiendita un buen surtido de lanas, algodones, accesorios, kits, revistas y libros y el merino XXL que es la sensación del momento. Todo concentrado en un pequeño espacio rebosante de ilusión.

From time to time, I like to grab a coffe and pay her a short visit. Then I touch everything that's in the shop and buy some things that I don't need at all but I desperately want. If you also want to touch all the yarns in Lucía's shop, grab a coffe and go to Luis de Góngora Street in Madrid.

Yo a veces me compro un café para llevar y me voy a echar la mañana ahí, toqueteo todas las lanas, caigo en pecado y me compro alguna cosa que no necesito pero quiero urgentemente. Si tú también quieres toquetear todas las lanas de Lucía, píllate un café y acércate a la Calle Luis de Góngora en Madrid.

WW Knitting in Public Day in El Retiro, Madrid

Every year I look forward the World Wide Knitting in Public day. I love the chance to meet a lot of people, spend the day outside, taking a lot of pictures, learn a lot, talk a lot and maybe... just maybe... knit something... This year I chose this event organized by Lucía, from Knitting the Skyline, in El Retiro, Madrid.

Todos los años espero con ansias este día. Es una oportunidad para conocer gente, pasar un día al aire libre, hacer muchas fotos, aprender mucho, hablar sin parar y quizá... tejer algo si te queda tiempo... Este año he asistido al evento que organizó Lucía, de Knitting the Skyline, en El Retiro, en Madrid y estoy encantada con mi elección.

Lucía run a little workshop for those who didn't know how to knit and the crochet team did the same. The decoration was cute, the people was cute, the environment was super cute... A lot of boys knitting, which is always nice to see, a lot of "tinto de verano" and champagne, which is always necessary when knitting in the park, and a lot of laughter and good vibes, which is what we all are looking for.

Lucía enseñó a tricotar a todo aquél que no sabía, y el equipo ganchillo también hizo lo propio. La decoración monísima, la gente monísima, el entorno monísimo... Mucho chico tejiendo, que siempre gusta, mucho tinto de verano y champán, que es muy necesario para tejer en el parque y mucha risa y mucho buen royo, que es de lo que se trata al fin y al cabo.

I didn't go there alone, I went with Conchita, even though you can't see her in the pictures. And I have to tell you something... she made a very good-special friend there... but I'll tell you more details later, since the story deserves it...

No fui sola, fui con Conchita, aunque no la veáis en las fotos. Y os tengo que decir que se echó un amigo... pero eso ya os lo contaré con más detalle otro día, que la historia dio para mucho...

Well, summarizing, we all should knit, in public and in private, alone and in company, crochet and knitting, in winter and in summer. There's always a good moment to use your needles and is also necessary. We who knit, know it and we want you to know it as well. We're a lot and we know what we're talking about!

Pues eso, que hay que tejer, tejer mucho, en público y en privado, sola y en compañía, a ganchillo y a punto, en invierno y en verano. Siempre es un buen momento y siempre es necesario. Las que tejemos lo sabemos y queremos que los demás lo sepáis también. Somos muchos y sabemos lo que decimos.

Black Oveja, Madrid

Last month on Craftourism I told you about my first "yarn shop experience" in Amsterdam and today it's Madrid's first yarn shop turn. Yes, as you know, I've moved to Madrid, actually one week ago, so I'm still a bit out of place, sometimes I don't even know where I am or where I'm going to... but one thing I was sure about: I have to visit Black Oveja.

Si el mes pasado os hablaba en Craftourism de mi primera tienda de lanas en Amsterdam hoy me toca hablaros de mi primera tienda en Madrid. Hace apenas una semana que me he instalado, aún ando desubicada y a veces no se muy bien ni dónde estoy ni a dónde ir, pero una cosa si he tenido clara desde el principio: visitar Black Oveja.

BLACK OVEJA

I've known this little shop for years, but only through the internet, I didn't have the chance to visit it yet. But here I am, at last, and it's worth it. They have a nice variety of yarns but Black Oveja's strong point is the huge amount of fabrics they have. The prettiest patterns and best qualities. I have to admit that, although I haven't sewed for years, when I saw all these beautiful patterns I felt the urge to start again. 

Hace ya varios años que le sigo la pista por internet a esta tiendecita de Madrid, pero nunca había tenido la oportunidad de visitarla. Por fin llegó el momento y estoy más que satisfecha. A pesar de que encontraréis una buena variedad de lanas, el punto fuerte de Black Oveja son las telas. Una auténtica maravilla de telas, con estampados preciosos y buenas calidades. Os tengo que confesar que hace años que no coso nada, pero al ver esas telas me entraron ganas de empezar de nuevo, son irresistibles. 

On top of that, Alfonso told me that they're increasing the amount of organic cotton fabrics, as well as (and this is something very important...) the t-shirt fabrics! Yay! Finally nice t-shirt fabrics! I'm planning to make a t-shirt for next summer. Please tell me if you know any easy pattern! But if I don't find a pattern, I can always go to their workshops :)

Además Alfonso me comentó que últimamente están trayendo mucho algodón orgánico, y... algo que me encanta... mucho punto! Por fin es fácil encontrar punto con estampados bonitos! Yo ya estoy buscando patrones sencillitos para hacerme una camiseta para el verano. Pero si no encuentro patrones no hay problema, tengo un plan B: me apuntaré a alguna de sus clases! Como toda buena tienda taller tienen clases de costura, ganchillo, punto...
