What's the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the name "Amsterdam"? Exactly: a bike. Wherever you look you see one, they're part of the city's landscape. I've even heard that there're more bikes than people. Do you think this is possible...?
Probablemente lo primero que nos viene a la cabeza cuando oímos "Amsterdam" es una bicicleta. Mires donde mires verás una, forman parte del paisaje de esta ciudad. Incluso he oído que hay el doble de bicicletas que de habitantes, no se si será verdad, pero no me extrañaría...
Despite most of the bikes that you see arround are the classic black oma fiets, the variety is endless, length, colours, all kind of gadgets, cases, baskets, flowers... Backfiets with huge wooden crates in the front part, where they put childern, dogs, trees, furtniture! They use their bikes if it's sunny, if it rains, or if it snows, in the morning and in the night, to go to work , to go clubbing or to go to a wedding party, wearing jeans and sneakers or wearing high heels and mini skirt...
Lo mejor es la variedad. A pesar de que la mayoría son las típicas Oma Fiets negras, puedes ver todo tipo de bicicletas, larguras y colores, con infinidad de artilugios y accesorios, sillas, cajas, cestas, flores... Backfiets con cajones de madera inmensos en la parte delantera de la bici donde llevan niños, perros, árboles, muebles... mudanzas enteras! Van en bici tanto si hace sol, como si llueve o nieva, por la mañana y por la noche, al trabajo, de fiesta y a una boda, con bambas y vaqueros o con minifalda y tacones...
